Our team provides specialist assessment, therapy and consultation to deaf people who are experiencing significant mental or emotional distress.

We also support carers and other professionals working with deaf people with mental health needs.

Working closely with other voluntary organisations, we ensure that our service users receive information about the range of other support services available in the community.

Our service supports British Sign Language users and people who do not use sign language. This includes those who have become deaf later in life.

You can find useful videos and information on our site from British Sign Language, including BSL Space, Interpreter Now and the Accessible Standard.

If you, or someone you care for, are deaf and feel you need support from mental health services, contact your GP to discuss the difficulties you are experiencing. Your GP can make a referral on your behalf.

We accept referrals from GPs and internally via AWP teams by contacting:

Email: awp.SpecialisedDeafService@nhs.net

Phone: 07736629954

We are unable to accept self-referrals.

Our service is available in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We can also support service users in Bath, Swindon and Wiltshire, subject to commissioner agreed funding. Please discuss with your GP for advice.
